The Subject of Relevance

This is the story about a guy and relevance. Fortunately, it’s not about the fact that he has a hard time spelling the word as much as the premise of how to mark relevance in blog posts. He’s even taken it as far as to add a feature surrounding entry relevance.

The subject of relevance has been floating in my mind for the past few weeks, off and on. Why? I’m not too sure, other than to attribute the thoughts to the overall reasoning for wanting to wipe this slate clean in the first place. As everybody who blogs knows, the blog is based on a descending chronological structure. New posts come in, old posts go down and fall into the back of the blog’s memory. A Love-Money Relationship

This is the story, actually the history of a guy and what has happened to him in his career thus far. He compares his love for a particular job with the amount of money he makes. Is it a direct relationship? Is it a sane one? Probably.

Work is love made visible. And if you can’t work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of the people who work with joy.

My Reasons for Django

This is the story of a guy and a framework that was introduced to him by a friend. The guy was looking to graduate from the tried and true WordPress and build his own thing—just like all the cool kids seemed to be doing.

It’s almost nauseating how many frameworks and blogging engines onecan choose today. Everything from Ruby on Rails, to SimpleLog and Mephisto, to CakePHP, Expression Engine, the growing Habari Project and even good ‘ol WordPress. All of these contenders (and the loads of others that I haven’t mentioned) have their appealing values, I had reasons, albeit small in most cases against using them. Note that I’ll be intentionally making general assumptions—each tool has their rightful place in different projects, just not in this “exploratory” one.
